About Me and My FamilyMy name is Karen Kortman and my husband is Gary. We've been married 31 years and have 2 children. Our son is Andy and our daughter, Erin is married to Dan and is expecting our first grandchild. We also have two other girls who take up residence with us. Brooke & Ellie are standard poodles and are very spoiled to say the least. I began making quilts over 20 years ago. After a few years of making quilts for myself, I decided to begin teaching a "Trip Around the World" quilt class. My first class was in January of 1994 and everyone started, and finished, their quilts that day. One class led to another and I began scheduling classes weekly and have now had over 300 classes. A few years ago, I decided that there was still more quilting to be done, but I no longer wanted to get down on the floor to finish my quilts. I began looking into machine quilting - on a big machine! After much thought, and determination, my husband and I purchased a Gammill Optimum Quilting Machine with a Statler Stitcher. My machine was delivered in May, 2005. Now I'm not only finishing my own quilts, but I'm finishing quilts for others as well. I'm so happy that I am able to help others in this way. Thank you for taking the time to view my website. I hope that I can have the opportunity to finish one of your quilts. You can always call me or email me with any questions you have. I'd be happy to talk to you. Oh, and if you're ever in my area, don't hesitate to call me, or stop by, to see my Statler Stitcher at work! Stitching Continuously, |
